District Manager

Daryl Buck:

The Winona County Soil and Water Conservation Office Supervisors and Staff are pleased to announce Daryl Buck as the District Manager.  Daryl has been with the District since 1988; originally the District Technician/Resource Specialist.  He began his Manager position on September 1, 2011.

Daryl has a Soil Science degree from the University of Minnesota.  He has continued his education and training over the years in soils, hydrology, plant identification, erosion and sediment control, wetlands, forestry, geology, prairies, engineering and conservation through various resources including the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service, MN Board of Water and Soil Resources, MN Extension, and the Minnesota Erosion Control Association.  He completed the Minnesota Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts Leadership Institute in 1997 and has been a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control since 2000.

Working at the SWCD since 1988 has brought a wide variety of experience including working with the budgets of the SWCD, long-term planning with the SWCD and Winona County, flood disaster assistance, conservation planning, tree and shrub seedling sales, wetland delineations, 1000+ acres of prairie plantings, stormwater management plan reviews, assisting landowners interested in State of Minnesota Conservation Easements, and design and supervise installation of countless Best Management Practices (BMPs) including grade stabilizers (ponds), waterways, diversions, sinkhole treatments...

Daryl was born and raised in Winona County, has spent the majority of his life living in rural Winona County and is dedicated to protecting the natural resources of Winona County.
