Resource Specialist

Lance Klessig:

Hello Winona County residents!

I’m Lance Klessig and I recently started as the Resource Specialist for the Winona County Soil & Water Conservation District located in Lewiston. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you on your farm or on any natural resource concern you may have.

I was raised on a rotationally grazed cow calf farm in central Wisconsin. I have worked in the agriculture and conservation fields across northwest Wisconsin and most recently out of Caledonia, MN. While in Caledonia, I worked as a Soil Conservation Technician for the USDA’s Natural Resource Conservation Service. I enjoyed working with both the rural and urban landowners of Houston County and spent much of my time surveying, designing, and constructing many conservation practices like grade stabilization structures, ponds, grassed waterways and terraces each year. Prior to working for NRCS, I was a conservation planner in Menomonie, WI where I helped farmers try no-till planting, soil sample their fields, and develop nutrient management plans. I’m a certified Crop Advisor and enjoy working on production agriculture in conjunction with conservation.

Away from work, I thoroughly enjoy farming, hunting, and fishing along with spending time with my family. My wife and I are blessed with two young boys and one girl. We just recently moved into the country near Galesville, WI.

If you have any questions for Lance, call (507)523-2171 ext. 108 or stop by our office at 400 Wilson Street, Lewiston, MN.
